World Schools 2011 Friendship Team Event

STAG ‘s 321 Team Event

Imaginative, Innovative & Inspiring !

After a lot of thought we have decided to defer this NEW EVENT till 18th August 2013, which is after MORAY 2013, and it won’t clash with the Purple Thistle or the other ongoing projects STAG is working on.

Inspired by the Team Friendship Relay held as part of the bi-annual World Schools Championships, STAG is once again pioneering a new event format within Scottish Orienteering. We hope you will consider supporting this venture.

In this the first attempt, competitors may form their own teams from Club Members, Friends, Families etc. Future years may adopt the “Friendship Policy” where entrants are ranked and as far as possible balanced Teams created.

The challenge for each Team is to collect all 27 Controls (Blocked in 30s/40s/50s) as well as each Team Member “punching” Controls A, B & C within 10 seconds of all their other Team Members.

Team Size i.e. 1, 2 or 3 members dictates what other conditions apply to your Team.

Note – Teams choose which Blocks of Controls they shall visit 1st, 2nd or last. On completing their 1st Block of Controls, all members then need to “punch” Control A or B.
On completing their 2nd Block of Controls, all members then need to “punch” Control A or B i.e. The one they didn’t visit at the end of their 1st Block of Controls.
On completing their 3rd and last Block of Controls, all members then need to “punch” Control C and then “punch” at the Finish Control.
Team of 1 Member – Within each Block of Controls, you may visit Controls in any order – Control A or B – 2nd Block of Controls – Control A or B – 3rd Block – Control C > Finish.

Team of 2 Members – As above BUT within each Block of Controls, each member must visit a minimum of 4 controls.

Team of 3 Members – As above BUT within each Block of Controls, each member must visit a minimum of 2 controls.

Everyone must visit “A” , “B” & “C” as defined above.

In total a Team with 1 member shall visit 30 controls ; Teams of 2 , 33 controls & Teams of 3s, 36 controls.

The entry fee depends on the members in your Team
1 member = £3 ; 2 members = £6 ; 3 members = £9.

On the day there will be a Mass Start at 11.00am ; maps released for planning at 10.15am. A full list of CDs shall be printed on the map. Loose CDs would be too long in length so won’t be used.
