STAG 16th Glasgow Parks Championships - 3 Parks In One Day ! Sun 7th Dec 2014

The vibes I have picked up appear to be all positive from GPC 2014 even with the mixed weather. The tour began at Springburn Park then headed south to Glasgow Green/Richmond Park & then even further south to Cathkin Braes Country Park. Results
My thanks & continued enthusiasm is primarily fueled by the support given by others to this Annual Project. Without such there would be no event.

We are also grateful to the support from Joe & Raymond of Glasgow City Council who authorised our access to The Winter Gardens within the People’s Palace.

Permanent course relaunched 2017.

The area was mapped in the mid 1980s as a STAG Junior Project and was included in the first Glasgow Parks Summer Series in 1989.
Another small park but with a variety of terrain it offers a good challenge.

The 10 controls will take about 30 minutes to walk round.

Park History:

Acquired in 1896.
Highest point is 351 feet above sea level.
Magnificient Rockery near Balgrayhill Rd. entrance.
Former Winter Gardens on site.
3 ponds which attract a variety of wildlife.
Peace Garden dedicated to the late Lord Provost, Bob Innes.
Springburn Elderly Mens Club building.
Bowling greens and play area.
