STAG SoSOL 5 - Sunday 24th February 2013

STAG’s South of Scotland Orienteering League Event for 2013 returned to Drumpellier CP and despite snowy conditions in the East of the Country, over 100 competitors tested their fitness & intellect again GT’s courses.Thanks to Robin & Sheila Strain,for all their support - results etc now available.

Once agiain our Thanks to STAG members, all competitors & in particular Chris from Drumpellier CP.

Controllers Comments:

Many thanks to STAG - Gerry and Terry in particular - for making this a very straightforward and enjoyable event to control.  I thought Gerry’s courses made the most of the terrain and the new map.  Many are surprised that an area as nice as Drumpellier can be found in deepest North Lanarkshire, on the edge of Coatbridge; I know I was, pleasantly so.  I hope you were too.

Follow signs for Drumpellier Country Park from M8 & M73.


Courses as advised on SoSOL Website - Brown, Blue,Green, Light Green, Orange, Yellow & White. The String course is contained within a Sensory Play Park although there will be controls but no string.
Courses have minimal climb - Brown 9k / 90m ; Blue 7.4k / 80m ; Green 5.2k / 60m ; Light Green 3.5k / 30m ; Orange 3.2k / 30m ; Yellow 2.3k / 20m & White 1.3k / 0m.

Start times:

Registration from 10.30am. Starts 10.45am > 12.29pm.

Entry Fees:

Entry on Day will be available but competitors are encouraged to pre-enter via “O” Entries which are now open.

Located to the North West of Coatbridge and to the east of the M73, this wee gem of an area has only improved over the years.

Originally used way back in the early 1980s, in fact the first STAG Map of the area was our 5th Colour Map.

Permanent Course on site & only 1 or 2 controls engulfed with Summer Vegetation.
