STAG/CLYDE Glasgow Spring Series No.4 - Springburn Park- Thursday 9th May 2013

STAG hosted the 4th event in the series at Springburn Park with almost 30 entries on the night despite inclement weather.

The gremlin within AUTODOWNLOAD has now been removed & all results are complete thanks to Robin Strain.

Interesting route choice !
From the West Side
A803/Springburn Rd turning onto Balgrayhill Rd then turn EAST into Bagnell Street at the SW corner of the Park - East > South > East into Broomfield Road.

From the East Side
Royston Road >> Broomfield Rd >> Pass Balornock Primary on your LEFT then 200m further on turn LEFT along the southern edge of the Park & drive to the far end.


Long Part A - 4.4k; 50m climb (LINEAR*) & Part B ??k (SCORE** - any 11 from 14 controls) - distance depends on which controls YOU decide to visit, likely +1.4k >1.8k.
Part B shall require the use of a different Si Finger so there is a Download & then a restart.

Short - 2.2k ; 25m climb - 7 controls.

* = LINEAR - the order to visit the controls is prescribed.

**= SCORE - YOU decide the order so as to fulfill the requirements stated.

Seniors £4 ; Students £3 & Juniors £2.

Permanent course repaired. Relaunch 2017.

The area was mapped in the mid 1980s as a STAG Junior Project and was included in the first Glasgow Parks Summer Series in 1989.
Another small park but with a variety of terrain it offers a good challenge.

The 10 controls will take about 30 minutes to walk round.

Park History:

Acquired in 1896.
Highest point is 351 feet above sea level.
Magnificient Rockery near Balgrayhill Rd. entrance.
Former Winter Gardens on site.
3 ponds which attract a variety of wildlife.
Peace Garden dedicated to the late Lord Provost, Bob Innes.
Springburn Elderly Mens Club building.
Bowling greens and play area.
