This was only the 2nd ever STAG Event battling against the rain & eventually the sun did come out just after 3pm as myself, John R, Blair & Davie F collected in the last of the controls.
Thank-you to you all for coming & special thanks for the Birthday Card (EG/TAY) & Shortbread (PMcA).

I first walked in the area over 20 years ago but decided that the area really struggled for the very young junior courses & our funds went towards our Errochty map which ironically also struggles for the same courses.
For this event I cropped the central part but the deciduous woodland continues further west & the plantation stuff further south.
To the east is the Balnaguard Scottish Wildlife Trust Area which I decided not to use but I know a man who bombed through it only to realise he wasn’t going in the correct direction & had to retrace his steps.

Parking was always going to be an issue & once I has convinced myself that it would be mental to park on the forest road, through the intervention of Colin Matheson & the kindness of the Garbutt Family of Sketewan Farm all was well.
Andrew Garbutt went beyond the call of duty & we are indebted to him, his brother, Mum & Dad for their support & kindness.

The funds generated from the parking fees are being passed to a local Balnaguard Charity recently established by a family who lost their young , active son with a heart issue recently - thank-you.

Congratulations to the Yellow Competitors on a bit of an epic. I would be interested to know if a better option would have been to take the hill on then run down the forest road?
Unfortunately the slippery nature of the path between 35 > 36 resulted in one competitor losing the hired Red SI Finger somewhere en route.
Alastair, if you have the time & inclination perhaps you could take a look for me as the earliest I can get back up would be next Saturday ?

As is always the case I am blessed with tremendous friends both from within STAG & from other Clubs. Without their support things just wouldn’t happen & thanks for the positive comments on the area / courses.

So Thanks again to Blair, Arnis & John McK for parking;  Lorna & Lynn for Registration, EOD & Download ; Gerry, John R & Thomas for The Start ; Davie F. Blair & John for helping me clear the area by 4pm.

STAG’s next BIGGY is 19th Glasgow Parks Champs on Sunday 3rd December 2017 - Could this be the year that you make the “3 Parks In 1 Day” Extravaganza.

Best Wishes
