Explanation of Event levels

Local events are usually low key and in the 'localised' area, ideal for newcomers to try the sport and Activities are non competitive events used for training and coaching, aimed at members of the club, but they can attract people from neighbouring clubs, and are often ideal for newcomers to try the sport. Regional events attract participants from around the local Region, National events are high quality competitions that will attract people from far away, Major events are Major Events such as a British Championships.

Following the 1st Du'O' in 2019, it was clear that the use of the Scottish Relays Handicapping Allowances didn't exactly suit our needs so we increased the basic allowance from 20s to 30s as Age Classes increased plus some additional allowances and so we have more data to work with for 2023. This is now one for STAGs Three Mathematicians (FJJ) to work on with Uncle Robin :).

In 2019 the differential between all finishing teams when allowances were applied was 65 mins ; 2022 this was reduced to 51 mins. In 2019 the Top 3 was the same in both categories but in 2022 the allowances changed several positions.

Si Timing was unable to cope with subtraction so we had to invert the allowances. With the differential being 26 minutes, the teams with the most generous allowance changed to a 0 addition and the team with the lowest changed to 26 minutes.
