Regional level event

Explanation of Event levels

Local events are usually low key and in the 'localised' area, ideal for newcomers to try the sport and Activities are non competitive events used for training and coaching, aimed at members of the club, but they can attract people from neighbouring clubs, and are often ideal for newcomers to try the sport. Regional events attract participants from around the local Region, National events are high quality competitions that will attract people from far away, Major events are Major Events such as a British Championships.

Race 3 Report

Over the years we have sometimes been able to accommodate a Chasing Start and for the 25th Anniversary this was the plan.

Originally the Start was going to be adjacent to The Crannog mainly to give us some publicity but then I decided that i. This meant some dead running to begin with which wasn't ideal and ii. In bad weather this would present issues.

I decided to move the Start and The Finish into the woodland on the south side of Lochend Loch and I feel this worked well.

With everybody downloading as requested we had bags of time and I hit on the idea that it would be more efficient to ask Matt to cycle round with the Start List to pass to Gerry.

The Start Team did a wonderful job and after planning Race 2 Ross still had the energy to bolt round Course 1 before taking on the role of line marshall but it appears that there were clear winners and no controversy.

Matt then managed the troops to bring in the tapes, flags and controls/SI units so a big thank-you to those who assisted.

Course Information

Results on the day can be found here.

Courses planned by Terry. Blair is again the Controller. :)

A chasing start shall be in operation which means that you need to add your times from Race 1 and Race 2 times together then add this to the actual time of 13:40:00. Should the total be equal to or less than 35 minutes you are in the Chasing Start.

For Courses 1 > 5 competitors who exceed this you shall be started at 15 second intervals thereafter which maybe a punching process if necessary.

Due to the time of day, season of the year and possibly cloudy weather you may wish to consider carrying a headtorch to use as the light begins to fade.

Course 6 competitors are being incorporated into the Chasing Start but at set 2 minute intervals from 14:04:00.

Maps are personalised and sealed with a second sticker. Please do not break the seal until you are told to start. It shall be approximately 50m from the 'Go' line to the Start Kite. This is a timed start so please don't miss it.

Location of Assembly /Start / Finish

Is on the southern edge of Lochend Loch {there is no Drumpellier Loch} slightly to the east of the lone tree which you can identify on the map shown. Warm up on the grass along the edge of the loch but only enter the woodland to deposit jackets in the taped off clothes dump until you are called forward to line up in time order.

You may go either clockwise or anti-clockwise around the Loch to reach Assembly which is approximately 800m. depending on where you are parked.

Competitors shall be called to line up from 13:50pm in the woodland off the main track.

The Finish for Courses 1 > 5 is to the west of the Clothes Dump.

The Finish for Course 6 is different and is located approximately 300m away and from there tape will lead competitors back to the main path around the Loch then return to the Clothes Dump or/ then Visitors Centre.

On Finishing please return to Download back at the Visitors Centre. Prizegiving target time is 3:15pm on the patio if the weather is kind.

Control Collectors please meet Matt at 3:15pm at the Main Entrance to the Visitors Centre.
