Maprun Series 2020

Last edited: Fri 1 Jan 2021

While waiting for lockdown restrictions to ease, STAG is organising a series of orienteering events using the MapRun app. Everyone welcome! You can run the courses whenever you want until the end of the series in December. New courses will be released every two weeks.

Course information

One course of each of the following lengths will be announced every two weeks, and made available in the MapRunF app, and as a PDF to download.

Short: 1.5k to 2.0k. For beginners; technically easy.

Medium: 2.5k to 4.0k. Technically as difficult as the area and coursesetting by satellite allows.

Long: Over 5.0k. As difficult as the area allows.

Entry Details

No fee, and no need to pre-register; just run! Information how to find the courses can be found on the individual event pages.

Registration and start times

Due to social distancing, you run the course in your own time. New courses will be announced every fortnight, and you can attempt them whenever it suits you. For the purposes of the series, your first result at each course will count.

Map Details

PDF copies of maps with courses will be provided for download and printing. It's also possible (although not recommended) to look at the map directly in the app on your phone.

Miscellaneous

Equipment In Use: There will be no physical markers on the ground. Instead the Maprun app will be used to register control visits

Clothing: Most courses will be in parkland, but long trousers are recommended for woodland sections.

Results: Results will be automatically uploaded in the app after you finish. (If you prefer, you can change a setting in the app to confirm before uploading.)

Final league standings: PDF.
