Coordinator's comments
People are the greatest resource any Club has and when activated what is achieved is incredible!
With Fredrik and Marta now resident in Lochwinnoch and Fredrik having mapped Parkhill Wood during lockdown, it seemed a shame not to bring a dormant area back into the O calendar. As the STAG evening event in April 2022 had been well received, we thought this, with the extended map could host a Winter Score with parking at Castle Semple and our faith was proven true.
The next task was to find a planner and Fredrik and I were delighted when Iain accepted the challenge and don't ever think planning is as simple as it might look. So with Fredrik mentoring our plan rolled into place and I was left with very little to do however the winter hibernation of equipment meant that I managed to leave the print cable from printer to download in the other printer box - Oops!
5 now confirmed as successful TWISTERS- Rudi, Thomas E, Ross, Alison and Gordon.
Thanks to Team STAG for their support.
Planners' comments from Iain and Fredrik:
The day turned out lovely, with spectacular views for those choosing the hills and less mud than expected after the recent weather. The twist proved a decent enough challenge with a few different routes being chosen and still 5(?) twisters clearing the whole thing. We also welcomed the Junior Shettleston Harriers - we hope they enjoyed and join us for future events.
Thanks to Clyde Muirshiel rangers for permission to use the woods, and especially for the indoor space for registration and download. Also thanks to all the helpers for making the day run smoothly - Marta for registration, Rudi for download, Lynn, Chris, Freyja and John for the start, Gerry for the finish, Scott for parking, Alan, Rudi, Alison, Ross, Mark and Thomas E. for control collection.
We hope to see you next Sunday at Cathkin Braes CP.
