Explanation of Event levels

Local events are usually low key and in the 'localised' area, ideal for newcomers to try the sport and Activities are non competitive events used for training and coaching, aimed at members of the club, but they can attract people from neighbouring clubs, and are often ideal for newcomers to try the sport. Regional events attract participants from around the local Region, National events are high quality competitions that will attract people from far away, Major events are Major Events such as a British Championships.

Pre Event Info

In celebration of it being the 21st Year of The Glasgow Parks Champs / 3 Parks In 1 Day, STAG are introducing a New Event the day before on the Saturday afternoon which is named DU'O'.
This is a Team Sprint Relay which is run in the Order ' Me - You - Me - You' and consists of 2 legs each. The expected leading time per leg for an M21E is around 8 minutes & for an W70 12/13 minutes but that is only half the story !

In celebration of it being the 21st Year of The Glasgow Parks Champs / 3 Parks In 1 Day, STAG are introducing a New Event the day before on the Saturday afternoon which is named DU'O'.

Although there shall be an award for the 1st 3 Teams to finish having completed their courses correctly, the DU'O' Trophy shall be decided once 'time allowances' have then been deducted from the Race time. We also hope to have special awards for Teams consisting of Husband & Wife, Mum & Dad; Brother & Sister ; Mum & Daughter ; Father & Son ; Brothers; Sisters; Grandad & Grandson etc etc but this cannot be confirmed until we know the level of entry.

As some provisional examples :

A Team of an M21s {SOA 0} & a W60s {SOA 9} receive 9 (0+9) x 20secs x 2 = 360 secs = 6 mins allowance.

2 x M60s {SOA 6] receive 12 (6+6) x 20 x 2 secs = 480 secs = 8 mins allowance.

A W45 {SOA 6} + a W14 {SOA 7} receive 13 (6+7) x 20 secs x 2 = 520 secs = 8mins 40 secs.

2 x M16s {SOA 2} receive 4 (2+2) x 20 secs x 2 = 160 secs 2mins 40 secs.

The above is how current thinking is but this needs fine tuned. In essence for every point you would receive under the SOA Relay Handicapping scheme is equivalent to a 20 seconds allowance x 2 (runs).

This event is being masterminded by Arnis Saltums & Fredrik Nordvall Forsberg.

The venue for the 1st DU'O' is Queen's Park on Glasgow's South side and the results from the 2011 Race 3 of Glasgow Parks Champs are being used to calculate time allowances in conjunction with the 'Handicapping System' in use at The Scottish Relays.

Provisional plans are to have a Mass Start @ 2pm. The new Sprint map is being produced by Stirling Surveys as I write this note.

* For this event to go ahead we require a minimum of 15 Teams to have sent me an email no later than Monday 18th November 2019 indicating their intention to compete & once this level of entry is reached entries shall go live on SI Entries.

If not it is likely that the event shall be deferred to a later date*
I can now also confirm that entries have just gone live to-day for the 21st GPC which you can access by following this link.
