Directions / Parking

Event location for Race 1 is Springburn Park (G21)

There are NO FACILITIES at Race 1 so consider visiting ASDA Bishopbriggs, ASDA Robroyston or COSTCO Glasgow where there maybe toilet facilities before arriving. Vehicles should park on the west side of Balornock Road on the eastern side of the park facing south.

As undergrowth can be severe in places full body cover is advised.

There is NO KEYDROP available at Race 1. Cyclists can secure their bikes onto the boundary fence of the park near the middle gate. Self parking.

Map / Terrain

Map has been resurveyed and redrawn to ISSprOM 2019-2 standard at a scale 1:4,000 2.5m contours in November 2023 by Terry. A4 paper size printed on water resistant paper.

Springburn Park is Glasgow's highest park and as such has a very high water table. Indistinct marsh symbol has been used for the wettest areas.

There are 2 'paths' or 'boardwalks' which maybe slippery even without an overnight frost:
1. From Map pick up point to Start Triangle - taped route 50m
2. A small footbridge within the SW Rockery.

At both sites yellow and black tape shall be hung to alert YOU to take care.

Starts from 10am for the first race as shown on SI Entries.

Course Information

REGISTRATION POINT

Shall be from a car parked as near the MIDDLE GATE as is practical. On arrival please check in here to uplift your personalised Race Number and pins if required, hired SI or SIAC hires and for Course 6 competitors an envelope containing your maps for each Race.

Race Numbers - 1 > 150 - Your Name - Your Club - Your Course No - Start Times R1+R2.

Are in use to help the Start Team and the Finish Officials to check start order and finishers respectively. They have been allocated based on Start Times so for Race 1 the first five starters* at 10am will have numbers 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5. At 10:01 Numbers 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10. Not all numbers are in use as we have just over 90 entries. For Race 2 the Race Numbers shall just be in reverse order with those at 12:29 being 146, 147, 148, 149 and 150. Again not all numbers are in use. On downloading after Races 1 and 2 please fill in your Start Time for Race 3. Pens supplied at Alexandra Park.

Should any competitor on Course 6 wish assistance please speak to Terry before you start. Other Family Members who are competitive should not be studying these maps before their own run. Control Descriptions for Course 6 are shown in text only.

The START is located outside the NE corner of Springburn Park. The park itself is OUT OF BOUNDS to competitors before their run. To reach the start ALL COMPETITORS should follow the pavement around the outside of the park a distance of approximately 500m heading north from the Middle Gate.

Miscellaneous

The FINISH is located to the WEST of the Start. On finishing a STAG Official shall check your Race Number off on a list. Download shall not be at this location but in the Pavilion at Alexandra Park between 11:15am > 11:45am.
