Friends of STAG Membership in 2025

Posted: Tue 11 Mar 2025

Friends of STAG - is available for those who wish to be associated with our Club but are not regular participants. The fee charged allows the Club to charge individuals the same fee as other STAG Seniors for up to 3 of our events.

This is required as British Orienteering now charge Non-BOF Members an additional 95p on the levy at events.

STAG 'benefits' from your involvement and doesn't lose out financially.

In 2024 we had 6 members including Neil and Dave (ex members now living in England) who joined at this level.

When we can we shall offer 3 sessions to interested schools but after this the member of Staff involved will require to join STAG/SOA/BOF for such support to continue.

We are offering this option for those of you who support the STAG philosophy, may participate /assist now and again but are not currently regular orienteers.

We understand that everyone's circumstances are different, but this is the first step to get or remain involved with Orienteering.

STAG welcomes everyone to our Club. Our belief is simple. Orienteering is an experience which can offer so much to so many for so little. Just being in the outdoors can bring benefits and then with the added challenge of navigation with a map, all the human abilities are tested.

Whether you be interested in getting into the Outdoors for your health or do fancy the idea of being more athletic in your approach our Club shall attempt to cater for your needs.

When in Membership you qualify for all the usual perks offered via STAG

  1. The participation fees for all weekday activities* are covered by our own Club Development fund.
  2. Juniors (under 21 years) or Full-Time Students are not charged for midweek evening events.
  3. You can earn event credits at STAG Events held at weekends when you offer to assist on the day.
  4. Club kit, at subsidised price is available to buy.
  5. A quarterly STAG Club email shall be sent to you unless you opt out of this correspondence.

STAG promotes Orienteering as a Sport For All and a Sport For Life. Although we primarily cover the Greater Glasgow Area, our membership is open and we shall also consider supporting projects (including educational establishments, voluntary groups, special projects e.g. NHS linked) in which are further afield where our Club have a link / members.

Our other hub is centred on Pitlochry from where we access real quality terrain each year,
