Please see article posted by John on our Facebook Page. Many thanks for all the emails & texts received so far.
"We are absolutely delighted to share the news that our Terry has been awarded a B.E.M. (British Empire Medal) for services to orienteering. I am sure that you will agree that it is just recognition for his efforts to promote the sport through STAG in the city of Glasgow and its hinterland, and through the SOA across Scotland.
Medallists of the Order of the British Empire receive the award for "meritorious (civil) service". Without doubt, Terry O'Brien is a worthy recipient of the award.
The announcement of the awards in Scotland for 2019 can be accessed here: https://www.gov.scot/n…/queens-new-year-honours-list-2019-1/
or you can find Terry listed on p.104 (207th page in document) here:
More information about the awards can be accessed here: https://www.gov.uk/honours/types-of-honours-and-awards
Feel free to share widely among the orienteering community."
