Explanation of Event levels
Local events are usually low key and in the 'localised' area, ideal for newcomers to try the sport and Activities are non competitive events used for training and coaching, aimed at members of the club, but they can attract people from neighbouring clubs, and are often ideal for newcomers to try the sport. Regional events attract participants from around the local Region, National events are high quality competitions that will attract people from far away, Major events are Major Events such as a British Championships.

Terry's Report
With Cathkin Braes CP ruled out, Pollok was the only remaining option. Again cut-backs meant that the Pavilion was not available for our use.
Thanks to Paul Brannan (Park Manager) and Andy - who unlocked the metal gate- to allow access to the lower blaes area for parking.
As mentioned at prizegiving, we are compiling a short questionnaire to seek your views but as I am sure that you realise nothing is ever simple even after 23 years of hosting this unique challenge.
Without the support of my fellow STAG Members and friends this experience just would not happen so my sincere thanks to all those listed below

Arnis' Comments
Planning the third Race @ GPC is a real challenge as the balance needs to move more towards Orienteering skills rather than just fast running.
At this time of year the terrain is also very different and running speed is a bit slower so course lengths need to take this into account.
I tried to have lots of changes in direction on each course and also test concentration/map handling skills throughout.
The times returned were more accurate than in previous GPCs being around the 25 min mark with only Course 1 around 28mins but quite a few had a wee adventure according to Routegadget:)

Directions / Parking
No facilities at Race 3 parking/assembly but competitors may walk from parking to the Burrell Collection where there are toilets and cafe provided they return no later than 1:45pm.
From parking on Langside Rd ahead to roundabout then turn west onto B768/Langside Avenue > ahead at jct. with A77/Pollokshaws Rd > Minard Rd.
Turn left at jct. with Titwood Road and then take slip road at Morrisons Superstore onto Shawmoss Rd.
At the end of Shawmoss Rd turn left at the traffic lights into Haggs Rd then after 120m turn right crossing carriageway into Nether Pollok Playing Fields.
At Nether Pollok Playing Fields parking meters are in operation. Fees advised at bottom of this page. Turn off Haggs Road to enter and also to leave the event.
If the hardstanding area is full we have permission to park on the lower level of the blaes pitch where parking bays have been lined.

Most controls shall be on yellow fibreglass stakes - SIAC activated - training size control flags in use. Some controls shall be cabled to secure their location. Code Number on Si Unit only.
14.00.00 starters shall be called forward at 13:57:00 into the starting system.
Contact punch at Start and Finish for everyone.
Prizegiving provisionally @ 3:15pm.
