Explanation of Event levels

Local events are usually low key and in the 'localised' area, ideal for newcomers to try the sport and Activities are non competitive events used for training and coaching, aimed at members of the club, but they can attract people from neighbouring clubs, and are often ideal for newcomers to try the sport. Regional events attract participants from around the local Region, National events are high quality competitions that will attract people from far away, Major events are Major Events such as a British Championships.

Terry O'Brien BEM, Organiser

"It is always pleasing when a new initiative comes to fruition and today was another tick in STAG's portfolio.

Our multigenerational team comprising of 2 M65s, 1 M50, 1 M35(just) and an M21 coped with whatever the weather threw at us but the main credit needs to go to Rudi and Arnis.

Over the past year ,young Rudi has produced a phenomenal amount of maps for our Club and where he found the time to fit this one in - he is creating the maps for The Glasgow Weekend - I just dont know!

The older part of this partnership, Arnis, has shown an incredible commitment to the discipline of Mountain Bike Orienteering particularly over the last year and we, as a Club, are delighted with his success and to aid his further adventure.

Thanks to your support the surplus from today's event is being passed to Arnis to support his forthcoming plans to attend MBO Races all over Europe including I think the World Masters MBO Champs being held in Denmark later this year.

Outside our 'Famous Five' I need to acknowledge the support received from Nick Prower, , Whitelee Access Project Supervisor who very kindly drove me round yesterday to site 19 of the 25 controls.

The idea to offer a 1 hour option was an attempt to be inclusive as I felt that the concept of 3 hours would be off putting to newcomers and as such I have not processed penalty points for those opting for the shorter option.

Finally my thanks to Tony, Chair of BMBO for his guidance and support.

Regards

Terry"

Planner's Comments - Arnis Saltums

"Fast and furious, wet and windy were the best words to describe Whitelee WF as a venue for MBO today.

My thanks to Rudi for producing the map which we did realise was going to be just a wee bit too small for a 3 hour Score but don't worry as this was only about a third of the size of the Whitelee Windfarm!

Thanks to Terry for sorting out access and to Gerry and John for their help with parking and registration respectively.

Thanks for coming.

Arnis"
